Today’s memo is all about how to take care of your scalp. How do you keep your scalp hydrated to avoid dryness, itchiness, and flakiness?
The scalp is a layer of the skin underneath your hair. A healthy scalp requires care, just like the rest of your body. Start by cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing the scalp to prevent dryness and remove dead cells, helping the scalp breathe.
How to Take Care of Your Scalp
One common Scalp condition is …
Dandruff is a scalp condition that occurs when the scalp is too dry. You notice a white or grey substance when you touch or comb your hair, and it itches. You can treat dandruff by using homemade remedies, such as apple cider, tea tree oil, or anti-dandruff shampoo.
Here are four (4) things you can do to take care of your scalp, and I hope you find them useful.
How to take care of your scalp

Do not forget to scrub
Wash your hair regularly, and don’t forget to gently scrub your scalp. Washing helps remove dead cells, excess oil, and dirt from the surface, which can cause dryness or itchiness.
Cleansing is an important part of the scalp care routine. How often you should wash your hair depends on your hair type and texture. To have a healthy scalp, you don’t want to joke about washing your hair. Some people wash twice a week, every two weeks, or once a month; no matter how often you wash, make sure you don’t forget your scalp.
When washing your hair, avoid hot water, as it can damage your hair and scalp. Instead, use warm wat.er
Carefully choose your shampoos, and look for brands based on natural ingredients.
Keep your scalp hydrated
Moisturizing the scalp is one way of keeping it hydrated. You can use a moisturizing or hydrating shampoo to help protect your scalp from drying out quickly.
If your scalp is too dry, apply any oil you like for 10 minutes before washing your hair.
Some of the best oils to use on your scalp
- Olive oil
- Shea butter
- Castor oil
- Jojoba oil
- Coconut oil
- Avocado oil
- Carrot oil
- Tea tree oil
You can use these oils individually or in combination. You can combine two or more oils, depending on your scalp condition. Stick to a particular oil if you’re not sure how or what to mix and match. I mix avocado, carrot, and castor oil, and my scalp has improved. I use it on my scalp 2-3 times a week.

Eat right and stay hydrated.
What we consume affects our skin and shows on the scalp. The scalp is as important as the rest of the body, so eating the right foods and staying hydrated will help.
Massage
Scalp massage promotes blood circulation in that area. There are different ways to massage: you can use your fingertips to massage your scalp several times a day, counting from 1–20, or when washing your hair, or use massage tools.
