How to Take Care of Your Scalp

Today’s memo is all about how to take care of the scalp – How do you keep your scalp hydrated to avoid dryness, itchiness, and flakiness?

The scalp is a layer of the skin underneath your hair. Having a healthy scalp requires taking steps to take care of it as you do with other parts of the body. It starts from cleansing to exfoliating and moisturizing the scalp to prevent it from getting too dry and remove dead cells to enable the scalp to breathe.

One common Scalp condition is …

Dandruff is a scalp condition that occurs when the scalp is too dry. You notice a white or grey substance when you touch or comb your hair, and it itches. You can treat dandruff by using homemade remedies, such as apple cider, tea tree oil, or anti-dandruff shampoo.

Here, are four (4) things you can do to take care of your scalp and I hope you them useful.

Do not forget to scrub

It is important to wash the hair regularly and do not forget to scrub your scalp gently. Washing will help eliminate dead cells, excess oil, and dirt from the surface, which can cause dryness or itchiness.

Cleansing is an important part of the scalp care routine. How often you should wash your hair depends on the type or texture. To have a healthy scalp, you don’t want to joke about washing your hair. Some people wash twice a week or every two weeks or once a month; no matter how many times you wash to ensure that you don’t forget the scalp.

When washing your hair, avoid hot water as it can damage the hair as well as the scalp. Instead, use warm water

Carefully choose your shampoos, and look for brands that have their foundation in natural ingredients.

Keep your scalp hydrated

Moisturizing the scalp is one way of keeping it hydrated. You can use a moisturizing or hydrating shampoo; it will protect the scalp from drying out quickly.

If your scalp is too dry, you can apply any oil of your choice for 10 minutes before washing your hair.

Some of the best oils to use on your scalp

  1. Olive oil
  2. Castor oil
  3. Coconut oil
  4. Avocado oil
  5. Carrot oil
  6. Tea tree oil

These oils can be used individually and combined. You can combine two or more oils it depends on your scalp condition. Stick to a particular oil if you’re not sure of how or what to mix and match the oils. I mix avocado, carrot, and castor oil, and my scalp has improved. I use it on my scalp 2-3 times a week.

Eat right and stay hydrated

What we consume will have an impact on our skin and would tell on the scalp. The scalp is as important as the other part of the body, so having the right meal and staying hydrated will be beneficial.

Massage

Scalp massage promotes the circulation of blood in that area. There’re different ways to massage; you can use your fingertips to massage your scalp, several times a day, counting from 1 – 20, or when washing your hair or massage tools.
